Schmitz Baffles Cincinnati Batters
Johnny Schmitz kept the Cincinnati Reds hitters from doing much damage at Crosley Field.

Cincinnati could only muster 5 hits and draw 2 walks against the left-handed Schmitz, who controlled them throughout the game. Pittsburgh won the contest, 4-0. Schmitz added 6 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.

"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Schmitz told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
