Dodgers Win, 5-1, at New York
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers picked up a win at Polo Grounds, knocking off the New York Giants, 5-1. Starting pitcher Max Lanier was a big reason why. Lanier, now 3-1, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. New York drops to 8-5.
The Dodgers had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the eighth. The score was 5-1, Brooklyn, with no one out. New York, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Eddie Yost dug in at the plate, but on a full count fastball, he hit into a double play.
