Browns Hand Philadelphia 2-1 Loss
|
Fans watched the St. Louis Browns and the Philadelphia Athletics fight to the finish.
Walt Masterson pitched well, but the Philadelphia Athletics still lost the game, falling, 2-1, to the St. Louis Browns at Shibe Park. Dave Koslo, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 11 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-2. Jack Hallett locked down his 1st save.
Buddy Lewis, who is tied for 7th in the AL in doubles with 4, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lewis contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put St. Louis up, 2-1.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Lewis.
The loss drops Philadelphia to 9-6.
