Cliff Fannin had a strong outing for the St. Louis Cardinals against the New York Giants at Sportsmans Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. With the loss, New York sinks to 9-6.

Jim Russell had a big 2-run triple for the Cardinals in the bottom of the fourth inning. With St. Louis leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Strincevich and swatted a triple to right. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 4-1.

"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Fannin. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
