Cincinnati got a strong outing from Bob Muncrief as the Reds defeated the Boston Braves, 9-2, at Crosley Field. Boston falls to 5-11.

Whitey Kurowski had a big run-scoring double for the Reds in the bottom of the third inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Denny Galehouse and swatted a double to center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 2-0.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Muncrief said.
