The umbrellas came out during the Boston-Pittsburgh contest at Forbes Field.

The Boston Braves topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-4, in NL action at Forbes Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Boston pitcher Joe Coleman. Boston reliever Earl Caldwell snagged the win, upping his record to 2-2. Steve Roser shouldered the loss. Art Houtteman collected save number 2.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Erv Dusak? The 25-year old third baseman Dusak stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Boston up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and 1 single.

"This is a resilient bunch," said Boston manager Billy Southworth.

Boston goes to 6-12.
