Red Sox 5-4 Victors Over Chicago
The Boston Red Sox topped the Chicago White Sox, 5-4, in AL action at Fenway Park. The standout performance belonged to Boston pitcher and Plaquemine, Louisiana, native Bill Lee. Lee picked up the win for Boston, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. The Red Sox, with just their 8th win so far in 1946, have yet to catch fire.

Making an impact for Boston was center fielder Harry Walker. Harry The Hat drilled a run-scoring triple off Vic Raschi in the bottom of the second. For the game, Walker was 1-4 with a triple.

"Bill is a tough competitor," said Boston manager Joe Cronin.
