Behind a fine performance from Clyde McCullough, the Chicago Cubs knocked off the Boston Braves, 8-5. McCullough went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Cubs. Red Adams earned the save for Chicago, his 1st. Boston is 7-15 after the loss.

Chicago took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Eddie Mayo hit a run-scoring single to make it 6-5, Cubs.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Mayo, "and then get after it again."
