The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies played an entertaining game for Sportsmans Park patrons.

Philadelphia first baseman Joe Kuhel had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to St. Louis at Sportsmans Park. Kuhel was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. St. Louis reliever Bill Voiselle snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Roger Wolff shouldered the loss. Getting the save was Herman Besse, his 3rd.

St. Louis went up, 5-4, on Frank McCormick's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which McCormick hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Philadelphia pitcher Roger Wolff shaking his head.

"We found a way to get it done," McCormick said.

St. Louis goes to 10-12.
