Red Sox Lose By a Run at New York
Yankee Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

The New York Yankees went home winners at Yankee Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Bob Kuzava. Kuzava stifled the Boston Red Sox, enabling New York to grab the 2-1 win. The winner was Kuzava. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Nels Potter. Earning his 2nd save for New York was Bill Wight.

New York shortstop Dick Culler helped the Yankees go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Culler hit a run-scoring single off Boston pitcher Nels Potter.

"Bottom line," said Boston skipper Joe Cronin, "we didn't play well enough to win."

The Red Sox fall to 9-18 and continue their sputtering start to the 1946 season.
