6-3 Loss Extends Cincinnati Losing Streak
|
The New York Giants defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3, in NL action at Polo Grounds. Nick Etten pulled his weight. The 9-year veteran went 4-4 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Fred Martin, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 3-4. The loss puts Cincinnati at 12-19.
Mike Tresh helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 4-0, Giants.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Cincinnati skipper Bill McKechnie.
