White Sox Do In Yankees, 7-5
|
Hank Greenberg did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New York Yankees from being beaten, 7-5, to the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park. Greenberg went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Joe Krakauskas was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Stubby Overmire. With the win, Chicago goes to 13-15.
Willard Marshall drove in one run for Chicago. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Stubby Overmire. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"It was a solid team effort," said Marshall after the game.
