Braves Lose 6-2 Decision to St. Louis
|
Ellis Kinder, who is tied for 5th in the NL with a 1.12 WHIP, had a strong outing for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Boston Braves at Braves Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-2 win. Kinder yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2. The Cardinals are now 16-15, while the Braves fall to 13-20.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jim Russell? The 27-year old center fielder Russell stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put St. Louis up, 5-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Ellis works, he fights, and he keeps a good attitude," said Cardinals manager Eddie Dyer.
