Chapman Shines in 8-4 Brooklyn Win
Brooklyn left fielder Sam Chapman was instrumental in helping the Dodgers triumph, 8-4, over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Chapman went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 2. The third-place Dodgers hiked their record to 17-15.

Phil Rizzuto went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI for Brooklyn. The slick-fielding shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ed Heusser. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
