5-for-5 Game for Cox
|
Billy Cox put on a hitting clinic at Sportsmans Park, spraying hits all over the ballpark and lashing St. Louis pitchers for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. However, the offensive onslaught wasn't enough for the Philadelphia Athletics, who still fell, 7-4.
"Sometimes I try to pull the ball too much, so today I just went with the pitch," Cox told reporters after the game. "It's great to get 5 hits, but it would have been nicer to win the ballgame. too."
Billy Cox singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In 35 games this year, Cox has posted a .333 average and put up these numbers: 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
