The New York Giants racked up a win at Polo Grounds, bumping off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-1. Ed Lopat, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. New York is now 20-15, Pittsburgh 19-16.
Lopat allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 9 innings for New York. With the win, the southpaw is 7-1 with an ERA of 1.71.
