Big Day for Salkeld in 6-3 Tigers Win
The Detroit Tigers defeated the New York Yankees, 6-3, at Briggs Stadium. Detroit catcher Bill Salkeld had a superb performance. He was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Joe Hatten picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-0. He struck out 3 in 6 innings. Earning his 1st save of the year was Paul Erickson.

The Tigers got a big at-bat from right fielder Tommy Henrich. For the game, Henrich was 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Detroit a 4-3 lead.
