Braves Suffer 6-1 Home Defeat
|
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Boston Braves, 6-1, at Braves Field. Starting pitcher Al Brazle was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winner was Brazle. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Tommy Hughes. The win has Cincinnati at 15-23.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Elmer Valo to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Valo. "You've got to get results."
