Athletics Lose By a Run at Chicago
|
Chicago registered a win at Comiskey Park by beating the Philadelphia Athletics, 4-3. Pitcher Blix Donnelly was one reason why the White Sox triumphed. Donnelly yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-0. Chicago has now won 7 straight.
Had Dom DiMaggio not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, DiMaggio hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the White Sox.
In postgame remarks, DiMaggio hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
