St. Louis Browns starter Phil Marchildon found his groove in his team's 4-3 win over the Washington Senators. Marchildon, who is tied for 5th in the AL in quality starts with 5, went the distance for St. Louis. He gave up 3 runs on 11 hits. St. Louis raised its record to 19-18 with the win.

Eddie Stanky was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Browns second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
