Phillies Rally Late to Clip Brooklyn
|
Philadelphia right-hander Roger Wolff helped his team edge Brooklyn by the score of 3-2. Wolff kept the opposing lineup in check. Wolff got the win, improving to 3-4. He gave up 10 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Phillies.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 23-year old catcher Del Rice had a real shot to win the game. Brooklyn pitcher George Caster was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Rice hit a run-scoring single. The Phillies had a walk-off triumph.
"From pitch one to the last pitch, Roger was aggressive," said Philadelphia manager Ben Chapman.
