Chicago Earn 6-5 Victory at Sportsmans Park
|
St. Louis left fielder Joe Medwick had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Medwick went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs, even as Chicago beat the Browns, 6-5. The win went to Sheldon Jones in relief, making him now 1-0. Phil Marchildon took the loss for St. Louis. The loss makes St. Louis 1-3.
Had Jimmy Brown not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Brown hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the White Sox.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Brown said.
