The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at Comiskey Park, knocking off the Detroit Tigers, 3-2. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Vic Raschi. He played a key role in the triumph. Raschi, now 6-3, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The third-place White Sox have won 9 straight.
Chicago left fielder Willard Marshall helped the White Sox go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Marshall hit a run-scoring single off Detroit pitcher Fritz Ostermueller.
"Every play was important. Every out was important," said White Sox manager Jimmy Dykes.
