5 Straight Wins for Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies and Brooklyn Dodgers completed their game despite the inclement weather.

Brooklyn got a big-time effort from pitcher Max Lanier, but it wasn't enough to keep the Philadelphia Phillies from winning the game, 5-4. Lanier threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Philadelphia reliever Joe Berry picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Al Gerheauser took the loss.

The decisive blow was delivered by Marv Rickert in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 28-year old left-handed pitcher Al Gerheauser to win the game for Philadelphia. The home crowd went nuts.

"This place was rockin'," said Rickert.

The Philadelphia winning streak has reached 5 games.
