Behind an impressive start by Bill Bevens, Chicago beat Pittsburgh, 3-2. The Pirates have now dropped 5 straight.
Johnny Pesky, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in doubles with 11, had a direct impact on the outcome. Pesky contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Chicago up, 3-0.
"I felt good even in the late innings," said Bevens after the game.
