Red Sox 4-2 Winners Versus New York
The New York Yankees could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Mickey Haefner into a win. Instead, the Boston Red Sox prevailed, 4-2. Haefner threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Hal Schumacher was the winner. He's now 2-5. The loser was 33-year old left-handed pitcher Mickey Haefner. Boston is 16-24 and New York, with the loss, 24-16.

Ken O'Dea went 1 for 3, while adding 2 RBI for Boston. The 33-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Mickey Haefner. It was his 7th hit of the season.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said New York manager Joe McCarthy.
