Reds Get Past St. Louis for 5-4 Win
Due in large part to left fielder Augie Galan, the Cincinnati Reds sunk the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4. Galan was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winner in relief was Ken Gables. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. With the win, Cincinnati has a record of 16-24. St. Louis falls to 20-18.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Cincinnati trailing 4-2, Galan jumped on a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Voiselle and hit a 3-run home run to left. With one swing, the Reds had a walk-off win.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said St. Louis manager Eddie Dyer.
