Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Cincinnati Reds topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-4, with third baseman Whitey Kurowski playing a big role. Kurowski was 2-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Reds in the win. After today's action, Cincinnati sits at 17-25; Pittsburgh slips to 20-22.

Early in the game, Kurowski had a grand slam home run for Cincinnati. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Reds on top, 5-1.

After the game, Cincinnati manager Bill McKechnie applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
