Braves Suffer 3-1 Road Loss
|
Starting pitcher Al Benton was a major factor in the 3-1 Philadelphia Phillies triumph over the Boston Braves. In 9 innings, Benton surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. The Phillies, now 3-1, have been playing some good baseball.
Wally Judnich had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Philadelphia. He came through with a 2-run single to put Philadelphia in front, 2-1.
"Al -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Phillies manager Ben Chapman. "He was the key to us winning."
