The St. Louis Cardinals racked up a win at Forbes Field, bumping off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-2. Thornton Lee, who started for St. Louis, pitched effectively for his team. St. Louis is now 22-21, while Pittsburgh is 21-23.

There was more than one reason the Cardinals beat the Pirates, but Lee's big at-bat in the top of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"Feels good to get the job done," Lee said after the game.
