Guardians Earn Win with Late Rally
|
In a tight tilt between the Cleveland Guardians and the Philadelphia Athletics, Hal Newhouser was the difference-maker. The Cleveland left-hander excelled in his team's 3-2 win in 15 innings. Cleveland has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Joe Gordon to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 15th inning to put the Guardians on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Philadelphia manager Connie Mack.
