White Sox Get Past Boston, 5-4
The rain did not keep Chicago and Boston from finishing their game.

The Chicago White Sox faced a tough opponent in Boston pitcher Hal Schumacher, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Fenway Park by a final score of 5-4. Schumacher went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner was Chicago reliever Sheldon Jones, now 3-1. The loser was Hugh Casey.

Ed Stevens drove in one run for Chicago. The 21-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Hugh Casey. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Boston manager Joe Cronin.

Chicago is now 23-21, Boston 17-29.
