The home crowd had a good time watching the St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees get after it.

New York picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, bumping off the St. Louis Browns, 10-4. Pitcher Bob Kuzava was a major reason the Yankees emerged victorious. The win elevated the Yankees to 28-20.

The Browns had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Yankees going into the bottom of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old second baseman Mickey Witek came to the plate. Witek hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 curveball from St. Louis hurler Johnny Humphries. It was Witek's 13th double of the year.

"I still think this team can play even better," Witek told the New York Daily.
