Cincinnati Sends Brooklyn Packing with 4-1 Loss
The Cincinnati Reds rode a solid performance from 38-year-old starting pitcher Bobo Newsom to a win, beating the Brooklyn Dodgers, 4-1, at Crosley Field. Newsom got the win, improving to 3-8. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. The loss makes Brooklyn 26-22.

Guy Curtright, who is tied for 10th in the NL in bases on balls with 22, helped out the Cincinnati cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.

"I thought Bobo threw the ball well across the board," said Cincinnati manager Bill McKechnie.
