Cardinals Pin 5-3 Loss on New York
|
St. Louis parlayed a decent outing from starter Ellis Kinder into a solid win over the New York Giants. The final score was 5-3. Herman Besse earned save number 7 this season. St. Louis is now 23-23. New York is 24-24.
Had Frank McCormick not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, McCormick hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Cardinals.
McCormick told a St. Louis Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
