St. Louis Beats Chicago, 5-3
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Fred Hutchinson found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. In 9 innings, Hutchinson surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 9. He allowed 3 runs. The loss drops Chicago to 2-3.
Ken Keltner had a big 2-run home run for the Cardinals in the top of the third inning. With St. Louis leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Bevens and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Cardinals on top, 4-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Keltner said after the game.
