The St. Louis Cardinals got a marvelous performance from pitcher Ellis Kinder. The right-hander kept the Cincinnati offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 St. Louis victory at Crosley Field. The winner was Kinder. He threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Bucky Walters. The loss drops Cincinnati to 2-8.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bama Rowell? The St. Louis left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Cardinals on top, 3-0. For the game, Rowell had 1 double and 2 singles in 3 at-bats.

"Ellis was throwing free and easy," said St. Louis manager Eddie Dyer.
