Boston Upended by New York, 7-5
|
The New York Giants topped the Boston Braves, 7-5, in NL action at Polo Grounds. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Williams, California, native Fred Martin. Bill Dietrich earned the save, his 1st. The defeat makes Boston 3-6.
The Giants got a big at-bat from second baseman Billy Herman. For the game, Herman went 1 for 5 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 4th double of the season gave New York a 5-4 lead.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Martin.
