Senators Suffer 4-3 Home Defeat
Philadelphia picked up a win at Griffith Stadium, bumping off the Washington Senators, 4-3. Pitcher Walt Masterson was a major reason the Athletics emerged victorious. Masterson went the distance for Philadelphia. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. The Senators drop to 5-5 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1946 season.

Dain Clay had a direct impact on the outcome. Clay contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Philadelphia up, 4-2.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Clay told the Philadelphia Bulletin.
