Johnson Leads Phillies to Win
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Boston Braves, 11-9, at Braves Field. Leading the charge for Philadelphia was third baseman Billy Johnson. He went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Joe Berry notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. With the loss, Boston falls to 4-7.

Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Marv Rickert to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Phillies on top, 10-9. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Ben Chapman.
