New York Topples Brooklyn, 4-1
|
The New York Giants topped the Brooklyn Dodgers, 4-1, in NL action at Polo Grounds. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Remsen, New York, native Johnny Niggeling. Niggeling went the distance for New York. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. The loss has the Dodgers at 5-6.
With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Lou Boudreau had a game-changing hit. The Giants shortstop slammed a 2-run single off George Caster, making the score 4-1, New York.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Boudreau told the New York Chronicle.
