Newhouser Shines, Shuts Out Chicago, 3-0

In a remarkable performance, Cleveland Guardians starter Hal Newhouser beat the Chicago White Sox, 3-0, in an impressive 1-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Guardians hurler finished with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Chicago manager Jimmy Dykes said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
