White Sox No Match for Newhouser, Guardians in 9-0 Thumping Tuesday, April 16th , 1946 The Chicago White Sox met their match today in Cleveland hurler Hal Newhouser. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 4-hit shutout. "He just worked us over," Chicago skipper Jimmy Dykes said.
