Monday, May 20th , 1946
Mickey Haefner was dynamite at Cleveland Stadium, blowing away the Cleveland Guardians in a shutout victory. The New York Yankees starter had everything working as he held the Guardians to 10 hits in the 7-0 win.
"He was pure nasty out there today," said Cleveland skipper Louis Farmer. "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing."
Haefner finished the game with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk.
This year, Haefner has recorded a 3-2 mark. In 7 starts he has fanned 18 batters in 54 innings with a 3.00 ERA.
