Mize Collects Player of the Week Award Monday, May 27th , 1946 Not every ball that came off Johnny Mize's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Pittsburgh Pirates. For his exploits, Mize was named this week's NL Player of the Week award. The Pittsburgh first baseman put up 12 hits in 25 at-bats and 2 home runs while hitting .480 with 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Thus far this season in 41 games, Mize is batting .335 with 7 home runs, 31 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 52 hits in 155 at-bats. |
