Brooklyn Held Hitless by Lyons
Saturday, April 20th , 1946
Ted Lyons was untouchable at Ebbets Field, displaying a good fastball and wicked breaking balls in his 2-0 win against the Brooklyn Dodgers. The New York hurler did not allow a single hit, fanning 2 while walking 0.
"This is great," Lyons told reporters after the game. "Every pitcher wants a no-hitter. I just wanted the win, but the no-hitter is a little extra icing on the victory cake."
