Cleveland Comes up Empty Against Brecheen
Sunday, June 2nd , 1946
Harry Brecheen was dynamite at Shibe Park, blowing away the Cleveland Guardians in a shutout victory. The Philadelphia Athletics starter had everything working as he held the Guardians to 5 hits in the 12-0 win.
"He was pure nasty out there today," said Cleveland skipper Louis Farmer. "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing."
Brecheen finished the game with 3 strikeouts and no walks.
Up to now Brecheen has compiled an ERA of 4.63 with a 5-5 mark over 10 starts. He has 44 strikeouts in 79.2 innings and has held opponents to a .252 batting average.
